Treske
The V&A Kitchen is now installed in the showroom. Treske, under licence from the V&A, have designed a new kitchen combining beauty and functionality in the spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement. Research in the the V&A prints and drawings archive provided inspiring source material for the design. The central motif of a tulip was developed from Lindsay Butterfield’s block printed linen designs while other details were influenced by designers such as Mackintosh and Voysey. Innovation in kitchen design is increasingly style-led. The Arts and Crafts movement, which began in the 1880s and was pioneered in Britain by William Morris, had a lasting influence on design.
Treske’s oak furniture in the Arts and Crafts style began with a dresser, table and benches made for the International Arts and Crafts exhibition at the V&A. An Arts & Crafts chair and carver, nest of tables, TV cabinet and bookcase complements the original range. Arts and Crafts designers emphasised craftsmanship, solid wood and clean, simple lines; the same principles that Treske adhere to in all its bespoke furniture, kitchens and special commissions.
